We call it…the norm of the day. Ellen Goodman said “normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for – in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.”

Is that the true purpose of work?

Money and work is so intertwined it has cloud our search for purpose and meaning of life. We’ve given up our sole purpose for paychecks and made to believe our work is our passion. We are soul-caged into believing having a nice home for the family and leisure is the comfort we all need. They end up saying somethings are just good in themselves.

Why keep yourself rooted in a work pattern each day for 5 days till the end of the year only to repeat the same routine next year and all for what…a paycheck?  At the end of it all, what would you have missed?

We are so motivated by selfishness and the desire to be served rather than to serve. We will do anything to earn that paycheck even if it means forgetting the needs of others.
