How DWTA is Classified & Accredited
DevWorld Tech Academy is not a University or University College, but can be classified as a Post-Secondary Diploma awarding institution, Professional body awarding Certificates/Diplomas, Tutorial College or a Professional Training Institution.
Our study programs are designed and created by international educational bodies and universities in the United States. We also offer our students the opportunity to take global certification exams for their global certification (see list below).
Our qualification provide different job specific training programs; they are diplomas and not degrees. They are awarded after completing an internal or external (by a third party certification body) Professional and Technician Examinations.
Professional certification (computer technology)
Professional certifications in computer technology are non-degree awards made to those who have achieved qualifications specified by a certifying authority. Depending on the particular certification, qualifications may include completing a course of study, proof of professional accomplishments, achieving a specified grade on an examination. The intention is to establish that an individual holding a certification is technically qualified to hold certain types of position within the field.
Some certification programs are oriented toward specific technologies, and are managed by the vendors of these technologies. These certification programs are tailored to the institutions that would employ people who use these technologies.
As a branch of WealthBankers Limited’s tech department (DevWorld), DevWorld Tech Academy is practical skill focused and not certification focused; we are continuously growing and our vision is that our qualifications (Certificates & Diplomas) will become known through the prowess of our work-place ready graduates, without seeking formal accreditation or recognition from an institutional body.
DevWorld Tech Academy courses do not provide Ghana government vetted programs, we are yet to apply for Ghana accreditation. However, our study programs are designed and created international educational bodies and universities in the United States. Also we offer our students the opportunity to take global certification exams for their global certification (see list below).
The nature of training DevWorld Tech Academy offers is part of a separate, but growing, movement towards real-world accreditation by employers – e.g. someone with an DevWorld Tech Academy certificate, diploma, professional diploma can be tested any time, anywhere, on what they have learned.
We guarantee that our graduates will always out-perform or match-perform, others from any other institution when tested in the workplace on what they have been taught in their respective schools.

What is Certification
- — the action or process of providing someone or something with an official document attesting to a status or level of achievement. Ex. “a fundamental requirement for organic certification”
- — an official document attesting to a status or level of achievement.
plural noun: certifications Ex. “graduates who want to gain industry-recognized certifications”
Certification refers to the confirmation of certain characteristics of an object, person, or organization. This confirmation is often, but not always, provided by some form of external review, education, assessment, or audit. Accreditation is a specific organization’s process of certification. According to the National Council on Measurement in Education, a certification test is a credentialing test used to determine whether individuals are knowledgeable enough in a given occupational area to be labeled “competent to practice” in that area.
What is Accreditation
- — the action or process of officially recognizing someone as having a particular status or being qualified to perform a particular activity. Ex. “the accreditation of professionals”
- — an acknowledgement of a person’s responsibility for or achievement of something. Ex. “both parties create authorship, and to make this clear I have always used joint accreditations”
Types of Certifications
One of the most common types of certification in modern society is professional certification, where a person is certified as being able to competently complete a job or task, usually by the passing of an examination and/or the completion of a program of study.
Some professional certifications also require that one obtain work experience in a related field before the certification can be awarded. Some professional certifications are valid for a lifetime upon completing all certification requirements. Others expire after a certain period of time and have to be maintained with further education and/or testing.
Certifications can differ within a profession by the level or specific area of expertise to which they refer. For example, in the IT Industry there are different certifications available for software tester, project manager, and developer. Also, the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology offers three certifications in the same profession, but with increasing complexity.
Certification does not designate that a person has sufficient knowledge in a subject area, only that they passed the test.
Certification does not refer to the state of legally being able to practice or work in a profession. That is licensure. Usually, licensure is administered by a governmental entity for public protection purposes and a professional association administers certification. Licensure and certification are similar in that they both require the demonstration of a certain level of knowledge or ability.
Another common type of certification in modern society is product certification. This refers to processes intended to determine if a product meets minimum standards, similar to quality assurance. Different certification systems exist in each country. For example, in Russia it is the GOST R Rostest.
Other types include:
Cyber security certification
Digital signatures in public-key cryptography
Film certification, also known as the motion picture rating system
Music recording sales certification, such as “Gold” or “Platinum”
Nursing credentials and certifications
Professional certification (computer technology)
A type certificate is issued to signify the airworthiness of an aircraft manufacturing design
